Each entry must form a green team. These people are responsible for:
- Energy
- Water
- Recycling and waste
- Biodiversity
- Health
The green team can include several members for each of the five categories. For example water can be subdivided into behavioural aspects and technology aspects, or subdivided into on and off campus. The members of the green team are responsible for the audits that will be carried out to monitor results.
The objectives of each category are:
- Energy – reduce greenhouse emissions through behaviour and updating appliances.
- Water – reduce water usage, reduce storm water run off, improve quality of storm water runoff and maximize water harvesting.
- Recycling – increase participation, reduce contamination of the collected material (this is achieved by separating wastes into recycling, organics and general rubbish), reduce volume of wastes generally.
- Biodiversity – protect remnant vegetation (existing indigenous vegetation), increase indigenous vegetation to enhance local wildlife, increase awareness of local wildlife species (possibly with mascot).
- Health – Increase availability and consumption of healthy foods, encourage travel and other activities that involve exercise. Disseminate information regarding minimum level of activity per day. (It is a shame to spend so much on an education to then die an early death from preventable degenerative illnesses.)
