The Little Things...

Audits

We require an audit for each category at the beginning and the end of the competition.

Audit requirements

  1. An overview to assess what is achievable to measure
  2. Measurements of the opportunities that are identified.

For example: Reduce energy consumption in Building X

Make a list of everything that uses energy. This might include heating and cooling, lighting, appliances, etc. The consumption of each item should be included – this is calculated by multiplying the time it is used for by the power it uses. Bills can be used to find out the total consumption.

First impressions of the situation may differ from subsequent analysis. Students are encouraged to continuously update their strategies to achieve the maximum success. Achievement is the be all and end all, as opposed to process.

For the above example, you might decide to focus on appliances in the building rather than the whole, depending on the likelihood of achieving goals across the board.
